AHH! I’m like totally freaking out ya hear me? lol Seriously! I have had so much shit to do so much on my plate and I don’t know how I got any of it done. I’ve even had 5 days off work to get things done and jeepers does it seem to go by fast. I am writing this today (the 30th) and it is my Birthday which I find fitting for what is about to appear below. I just wanted to share a little bit about my day before we get into the actual post. For some reason I think it has a lot to do with what I am to say.
I woke up feeling great and with a mission! I was going to do Yoga before I did anything else. I said a few affirmations, got out of bed and popped in my Yoga CrossTrain DVD and boom fluid movement. Went to the movies with my Mom (Underworld: Awakening in 3D), ran a few errands, home for lunch and then back to my exercise routine. Now I’m here settling in for the night to get my posts completed and some meditation time in. Now now enough of my jibber jabber let’s get to the good stuff!
So I was called to use the Celtic Dragon Tarot which I have recently re-acquired after YEARS of being without it. I just opened the deck to do this exercise as I felt it would be most interesting to start my re-connection with the deck as well as the first experience with Tarot Blog Hop!
How Can I Be A Better Candle?
I’ve decided to use the Influence of Elements spread that comes with the deck for this. I focused on this question and allowed the spirits and the dragons to speak through. Automatically I heard spirit say “Well don’t burn out too quickly without accomplishing your mission.”
A Candle is a Tool of power regardless if you are a practitioner of magick (consciously) or not. A Candle can illuminate the darkness, can add to the atmosphere when saying your prayers, can literally burn down a house and do so much more.
Spirit Speaks: Seven of Swords
Quit worrying about what your neighbor is doing and start focusing on yourself! To be the best you can be you need to put in the work and there is no cheating and short cut to it. This is at the center of being this represents the wick which in a candle is the center of all. A bad wick can determine much of how the candle will burn. So let’s not beat around the bush okay? The Seven of Swords is clear on it’s message it says to stop trying to steal from others, stop trying to get out of doing the work that is necessary and start making an active effort to engage in your life to produce the results that you seek. I know that you have big plans for your life, that you have something in mind that you’d like to do but you are scared that you may not have enough time or the education or may fear that you will fail at it. So you are not sure it is something you fully want because you fear you may not be successful at it so you desire to bypass all of the work, half-ass it and see if you like it that way. Well if you half-ass this and you don’t put in the initial blood, sweat and tears that it requires for these things then you won’t appreciate it, you wont enjoy the journey and networking that comes with such effort. This is actually a warning that if you go down that path you’ll be burned and burn out before you even get started. Watch your step, be honest and walk with integrity. Don’t cheat yourself out of your success!
Spiritually speaking it’s time to begin a regular practice (whatever your choice of religion is)… Some of our strongest inspirations and decision making can be rooted in our spirituality. It gives us a strong sense of self, it helps us to understand who we are as well as have faith that what we do has purpose and happens all for a reason. Meditate, practice Yoga, start morning prayers, do what inspires you but make sure to nurture your spirit.
Air (East) Speaks: King of Swords (Fire)
You can pull your head out of your ass anytime now! You will definitely experience blockages on your journey to achieving your goals. It’s not how the journey ends that matters to be honest but how you interact during that journey that will definitely set the tone for the next phase in your life. This card definitely is quite delicious! It acts as a premonition of sorts. You gotta get your head in the right space and to do that you have to be aware of your surroundings. You have to keep your cool and get your emotions under control. There will be people that come into your life that will piss you off and there will be people who act like they are above you and it is through your interaction with them that will set you apart from the rest. You must learn to not give in to their head games. To effectively work the situation to your benefit. Part of getting the most out of something you desire is to get your thought patterns in control. Getting your mind to support your passions and your passions to support your mind. You have to be in sync and if there is something you wish to accomplish you must learn to be aware of what you think about these subjects and if you have something negative blocking your way, you must learn to obliterate it! You can work with the Air (intellect, wisdom) and the King of Swords (In this deck Fire, Passion, Aggression, Lust) to produce amazing results just learn to balance it out.
Fire (South) Speaks: Eight of Wands (Air)
As a Candle you know that you will eventually burn out. You will do what you are programmed to do and there will be a time where you must change and adapt to your surroundings. You must in a sense evolve and move on to a different path and no longer be a Candle but something else entirely. It’s almost like the cycle of life. When the soul enters the world as a physical being it begins it’s physical journey and when the physical body is shed it begins yet another journey. It is not gone forever but different and has a different purpose. This fits here. The Eight of Wands speaks of rapid movement towards the future. Once you’ve done the prior work that the other cards have laid out, once you have aligned with your highest and best and have clearly set your intent things will move quickly. So quickly that you must make sure to have your foundation straight. For when the time comes that your candle is spent you must be ready for the journey that lay ahead of that. So take the time to look back for a second and ask yourself if you’ve done what you’ve set out to do thus far, look back at the foundation that you laid out. Is it sturdy? Are there any loose ends that you need to take care of? Now is the time to really make sure that what you want is truly in your heart.
Water (West) Speaks: The Moon
Now this is a very strong energy. This is a card that needs extra attention. You will make tremendous amounts of change on this journey to becoming a better candle! That being said there are people who do not like change. You see when you change you shift the energy around you and the world around you will feel that change. Your friends and family and some of them may not be able to handle it. They may look at you and communicate with you in a way that no longer matches your vibration or perception of things. They may try to bring you down to their wavelength but you must remember that to achieve your desires, to live fully for yourself you must dance in this world AS yourself. You cannot live for them. You have trained yourself to effectively engage with the world as you’d like to be. You’ve surrounded yourself with energy that aligns with your desires, you got rid of blocks along the way and now you are living in the moment as you should! Let go of the past, let go of the gossip that will make it’s way to you and trust your instincts. Trust your intuition and go with the flow of things. As the flame on a candle moves with it’s surroundings so to should you! Don’t fight against the current but move with it and be strong. So be extra cautious of how you allow people to effect you. You see when you start to live an amazing life and start to create amazing changes bitches will be bitches. People will be jealous and will try to tear you down on some level and so you can feel attacked a lot during this phase and separate yourself from society but that’s not beneficial to you. Learn to work through this, learn to surround yourself with people who support and uplift you and know that when people speak like this they speak from their own limitations not your own!
Earth (North) Speaks: King of Wands (Air)
You have come full circle. Your body is strong because you are strong in all other aspects of your life. When you do the work the benefits will follow. This card represents so much about what you have transformed in to. You took that scared idea, that fear-ridden energy and you have shaped it into something most beautiful. A strong willed and powerful human being. You are capable of anything. The Journey has led you to balance out your life, to get your thoughts and emotions under control and to learn to interact more intuitively with your surroundings. Know that through this self discovery process, through the intention to get your goals achieved you have creating a sturdy being.
When the wick is spent and you are about to finish your journey a time of reflection is needed. Remember all that you have accomplished. Know that this is not the end but only the beginning.
So How Can I Be A Better Candle? Create a sturdy foundation for everything around you to hold on to. Work on your mental capacity, your thought patterns, your beliefs and allow your spirit and passion to guide you. Take yourself out of your comfort zone knowing that you will reach your end eventually only to produce a new beginning. Trust that when the flame is out you will move into a new essence of awareness and that everything flows with purpose. Know that no matter what people say or do to you, you are the one who dictates your reality and you know that what you do now determines how you will spend the next phase in your journey.
